IT'S HERE! Forgive the corny pun, but
"These ARE the Droids you're looking for".
The perfect smartphone for Star Wars fans has just been released from Motorola for the Verizon Wireless network. The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition R2-D2 Droid 2 phone is available now.
This bad boy is a special edition Motorola Droid 2 with very cool graphics on the back to make it resemble that cute little Astromech droid everyone knows and loves. This phone is more than just a normal Droid phone with an R2-D2 paintjob however. The Star Wars theme is carried throughout everything making this phone very cool and very collectible. It comes with a Star Wars media dock and even comes specially boxed in packaging made to resemble carbonite!
The Droid R2D2 is also pre-loaded with very cool Star Wars content. Some examples include:
- R2-D2 ringtones and notification sounds
- "The Best of R2-D2" video complete with original Cantina music
- Four live wallpapers
- A very cool R2-D2 Clock Widget
- An Exclusive "Binoculars" App
The 5.96 ounce R2-D2 Droid runs on the Android 2.2 operating system and comes with the OMAP 3600 series 1GHz processor. Memory comes in at 8GB of FLASH memory with 512 MB of RAM.
The R2-D2 special edition Droid smartphone comes with a 3.7 touchscreen and boasts a slide out QWERTY keypad.
This very cool Droid features a 5 Megapixel digital camera with video capture and playback capabilities.
We simply can't find a bad motivator in this R2 unit!

I think this is a pretty sweet looking phone but I'm not sure the price tag is worth it considering there is no real performance improvement over the standard Droid 2.
ReplyDeleteAfter all the price tag is basically only for a new front design, an R2-D2 boot sequence and some decent wallpapers and apps.
I get the R2-D2 being a DROID concept...but I still pray they make a Vader version. That would be so sweet!
